Essex rTMS is a private health service provided by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and is currently the only rTMS service in the county of Essex. The course of treatment is delivered by our consultant psychiatrists and specialist nurses. Our rTMS Clinic is conveniently located in Brentwood with its excellent transport links from London, other parts of Essex and the Home Counties.


Dr Milind Karale

Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Psychiatry

Dr Milind Karale trained in Cambridge and Eastern Deanery to attain the membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.  

Dr Karale is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is on the Board of Examiners for the Royal College. Dr Karale’s clinical interests include Mood Disorders and Liaison psychiatry. He is trained in rTMS by the Department of Cognitive Neuroscience, Maastricht University, The Netherlands.


Dr Joby Easow

Senior Registrar

Dr Joby Easow holds a special interest in Neuromodulation. He is trained to deliver rTMS therapy safely and effectively.

He is keen to use innovative technology in improving well-being of patients. He has developed a mobile app to remind patients with severe and enduring mental illness to monitor their physical health.


Dr Parvathy Pillay

Consultant Psychiartrist

Dr Pillay completed her higher training in Psychiatry from UCL Royal Free Rotation and has been working as a Consultant since 2011. She is registered with GMC and is on the specialist register and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrist.

She works as a General Adult Psychiatrist and has extensive experience in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of mental health problems. She has a special interest in neuromodulation and  is the Consultant Lead for ECT and rTMS. She has received certification for safe use of rTMS by Maastricht University.


Lynn McGhee

Essex rTMS Service Manager

Lynn has a background in nursing and is a Registered General Nurse and Registered Mental Health Nurse. She has undertaken additional study and has a BSc (Hons) degree in Specialist Mental Health Practice. She has a wealth of clinical experience spanning the past 30 years in both inpatient and community settings and operational management of services in the NHS. She is passionate about the delivery of high quality care to patients she is responsible for with patient safety and satisfaction being top of her priority list.

Lynn has a special interest in the field of rTMS for the treatment of severe depression and anxiety and is trained to deliver the treatment in our service. She is also the Service Manager of the Essex rTMS Service.


Julie Nair

Senior Support Worker

Julie is a senior support Worker for the rTMS service and acts as a support to the Doctors and senior nurse in delivering the service. She also sits in the room while the patients are having their treatment to give reassurance and support to the patient.


Gemma Cawston


Gemma is the Administrator for the rTMS team and would be your first point of contact within the service. She deals with any incoming phone calls, emails and referrals as well as booking all the appointments.
